Frequently Asked Questions
What will be discussed during the consultation?
How many kids will be attending and if there are any known food allergies. Specific party theme besides cooking, for example beach or circus food theme. Ideas for appetizer and dessert. Desired cake flavor and choice of additional games (guess how many jelly beans, blind folded taste test, kitchen tool memory game, miracle berry taste bud experiment etc.)
What if there is a guest with a food allergy?
All food allergies MUST be identified in the consultation. This will alter which recipes and ingredients will be used at the party. The safety of each guest is my number one priority.
Will the kids be using knives or the stove?
Kids will be allowed to use steak knives for cutting vegetables and will only be permitted to use the microwave unless instructed by the chef, under supervision.
How long do you stay at the party?
It depends on what you are looking for. I am prepared to arrive with a cooking demonstration followed by one hands on activity, which would last approximately one hour. If a full cooking party is desired, I am prepared to make a guided appetizer, "chopped" theme entree course with small teams and supervision, followed by a guided dessert activity that can last anywhere between 2-3 hours (depending on the size of the party).
Do you buy the groceries for the ingredients needed?
Yes, I will do the grocery shopping prior to the party. This is separate from my fee. This does not include any additional items such as chips, fruit, popcorn, etc. unless noted in the consultation.
Do you include goody bags?
Upon request, I can create goody bags to go along with the party's theme, enclosing a kitchen vocabulary word search with definitions and a take home recipe!
Can I book you for other events?
Yes, I primarily host birthday parties but I also host fancy hors d'oeuvre cocktail parties, bachelor/bachelorette parties, food and wine pairing parties, and couples cooking parties.
